TRADER
TRAINEE / ASSISTANT POSITION
Burrows Lumber ongoing growth strategy includes development of lumber
traders.
Are you looking for a new career challenge with the potential to earn
above average earnings? Burrows has a comprehensive lumber trader training
program at Burrows Head Office in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Under our basic training plan the employee is assigned to our freight
desk. In that position responsibilities include securing freight arrangements
with carriers, preparing cross-border documentation, and tracking and
reporting on the movement of lumber. The Freight desk works closely with
the lumber traders, thus developing an understanding of the lumber trading
function.
After
a period of time, usually 18 to 24 months, the successful candidate will
have the opportunity
to become a Trader’s Assistant, working
towards becoming a full time commissioned Lumber trader. In this position
he/she will be assigned to an experienced trader for further training.
The compensation package, initially salary and then salary and some
commission amount, is designed to provide financial support to the individual
until he/she is ready to become a fully commission paid trader.
The ideal individual will have excellent communication skills and be
capable of maintaining focus while accurately managing multiple tasks
in a demanding and time-sensitive environment.
